BROOKLYN, N.Y., August 24, 2012 – The 14th season of Brooklyn Fashion Week[end}, beginning September 27 through September 30 at Industry City inSunset Park will take guests on an international fashion journey. Canadian designer, Franz Patrick Albana will premiere his 2013 Spring/Summer collection on September 28. Albana, a recent graduate of a fashion design college inVancouver, juggled three part-time jobs freelancing as a visual artist/designer for retail windows. At a young age, Albana knew he wanted to start an artistic career and didn’t let his lack of finances or materials stand in the way of his dreams. “I became resourceful in making art pieces by using unconventional and recycled materials. By doing that I learned how to create something different and how to mix and match materials, that is very evident in my creations,” said Albana.
Albana strongly believes that a good balance between creativity and marketability is the way to profitability. “I try to be different by being inspired by unusual random inspirations; such as negativity, mistakes, failure, incompletion, conflicts and sarcasm. For me, mistakes are just another way of doing things and failure is just delayed success. I don’t follow trends, I follow my interests and focus on my strengths,” notes Albana.
